Marshall D. Shulman Book Prize

About this program

Harriman Institute at Columbia University awards the annual Marshall D. Shulman Book Prize, presented at the ASEEES Annual Convention, for an outstanding monograph on the international relations, foreign policy, or foreign-policy decision-making of states of the former Soviet Union or Eastern Europe published in the previous calendar year; a cash award is included. Eligible works must be monographs (preferably single-author, no more than two authors), originally published in English; textbooks, edited collections, translations, bibliographies, reference works, and self-published books are ineligible. Nominations may be made only by the author or the publisher via an online form, and the nominator must send a copy of the book to each committee member (nomination form and committee receipt deadlines are posted on the prize page, typically April 15 and May 15); ebooks are accepted/preferred in some cases and nominators should follow the committee’s mailing instructions.
