Martha and Artemis Joukowsky Distinguished Service Award

The Archaeological Institute of America offers the Martha and Artemis Joukowsky Distinguished Service Award to recognize AIA members whose sustained, exceptional volunteer efforts advance the Institute and increase public awareness of its mission. Up to two recipients receive a framed citation annually at the AIA Annual Meeting; the nomination deadline is September 15, 2026. Nominees must be AIA members with outstanding service at the national level or at both national and local levels, while currently serving Governing Board trustees are ineligible. Nominations require two to three recommendation letters detailing the candidate’s AIA service and should be emailed to awards@archaeological.org.
