Mary D. Doering Guardian Honor

About this program

The Costume Society of America (CSA) offers the Mary D. Doering Guardian Honor to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the preservation and study of artistic, historical, and socially significant objects of dress and appearance. This biennial honor, named after renowned costume historian Mary D. Doering, does not include a monetary award.

Nominees must be CSA members or affiliated with a CSA institutional member, demonstrating long-term efforts in collecting, conserving, and promoting the study of dress and appearance objects. Nominations require a sponsor, the nominee's consent, and a detailed submission packet, including letters of support and a resume/CV, by November 1, 2026.
