About this program
The Texas State Historical Association offers the Mary Jon and J. P. Bryan Leadership in Education Award annually to recognize outstanding history educators at the K–12 and college levels, with each recipient receiving $5,000 and a certificate. Nominees must be full-time educators currently teaching history at a Texas school or college and must attend the TSHA Annual Meeting to receive the award. Any individual may submit a nomination, including a nomination letter, the candidate’s resume or vita, and additional recommendation letters, in a packet of no more than seven pages by November 15, 2026.
