About this program
TEDCO’s Maryland Innovation Initiative (MII), a partnership between Maryland and five qualifying universities, supports commercialization of university-developed technologies through technology validation, market assessment, and company formation. Funding includes up to $130,000 for sole-applicant Technology Assessment grants, up to $180,000 for joint applications, and up to $300,000 for Company Formation investments. Full-time faculty at Johns Hopkins University, Morgan State University, and the University of Maryland campuses may apply for Technology Assessment funding, while Maryland-based startups that recently licensed qualifying university technology may seek Company Formation investments. Applicants must have university-owned, disclosed, and appropriately protected intellectual property, engage a designated Site Miner at least 30 days before submission, and apply by quarterly deadlines of January 15, April 15, July 15, or October 15.
