About this program
TEDCO’s Maryland Innovation Initiative (MII), a collaboration between the State of Maryland and five qualifying universities, supports the commercialization of university-developed technologies through technology validation, market assessment, and company formation. Funding is available for Technology Assessment grants of up to $130,000 for sole applicants or $180,000 for joint applications, and up to $300,000 for Company Formation. Full-time faculty at Johns Hopkins University, Morgan State University, and the Universities of Maryland may apply for Technology Assessment, while Maryland-based startups that recently licensed qualifying university technology may apply for Company Formation. Applicants must have university-owned technology disclosed to the technology transfer office, appropriate intellectual property protection, a TEDCO ID, and documented engagement with a Site Miner at least 30 days before submission; applications are accepted quarterly by January 15, April 15, July 15, or October 15.
