Medical Student Essay Award

About this program

Sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology, the Medical Student Essay Award recognizes outstanding original essays that stimulate interest in neurology; four recipients receive $1,000 or $350, complimentary AAN Annual Meeting registration, and travel-related benefits. Essays must be concise, engaging, original, written in English for a general neurology audience, and no more than 1,500 words; research manuscripts and personal statements are not eligible. Applicants must be enrolled and in good standing at a North American medical school and submit an online application, faculty verification letter, and essay by October 20, 2026. Awardees are expected to present a poster based on their essay at the 2027 AAN Annual Meeting.
