The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR) offers the Michael J. Hogan Foreign Language Fellowship, providing up to $4,000 annually to support graduate student research using foreign-language sources. Funds may cover language study, online language-learning programs, or travel to foreign-language archives. Applicants must be graduate students researching U.S. foreign relations history and current SHAFR members; self-nominations are due October 15. Awardees must submit a brief expenditure report within eight months of receiving the fellowship.
