Michele Alexander Early Career Award for Scholarship and Service

Offered by Division 9 (Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues) of the American Psychological Association, the Michele Alexander Early Career Award recognizes early-career excellence in both scholarship and service related to the psychological study of social issues. Recipients receive a complimentary one-year SPSSI membership, an honorary plaque, and the opportunity to attend an SPSSI-sponsored event alongside the organization’s president for networking and mentorship; application deadline is October 1, 2026. Eligible applicants are early career scholars or psychologists whose substantive academic contributions (theoretical, empirical, or applied) and professional or community service demonstrably address social-psychological issues; no monetary prize is awarded.
