About this program
The Michigan Space Grant Consortium, primarily funded by NASA, offers Research Seed Grants of up to $5,000 with a required 1:1 match for new research and development in aerospace, space science, earth system science, and related STEM fields. Funds support preliminary work by junior faculty, research scientists, and established faculty pursuing new research areas relevant to NASA’s strategic interests, with an eight-month performance period beginning May 10, 2027. Applicants must be faculty or research scientists at MSGC-affiliated institutions, be within seven years of receiving a Ph.D. or initiating a new research area, and obtain institutional approval and cost-sharing confirmation before submission. Applications are due through the MSGC InfoReady portal by November 12, 2026, and prior awardees may not receive grants in consecutive years.
