Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants

About this program

The Minnesota Historical Society offers Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grants to support history programs, preservation activities, and projects addressing significant Minnesota historical and cultural resources. Small grants provide up to $20,000 for projects typically completed within 12 months, while larger requests support projects lasting approximately 6–18 months and require a pre-application. Eligible applicants include Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits, state or local government units, federally recognized tribes, and educational institutions; individuals are ineligible. Projects must have a direct connection to Minnesota history or cultural heritage, be ready to begin upon award, and be submitted through the MNHS Grants Portal.
