Minnesota State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP)

About this program

The Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Rural Health and Primary Care administers the Minnesota State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP), which provides loan repayment assistance to recruit and retain primary care providers in underserved Minnesota communities. The 2026/2027 application cycle runs July 9 through September 9, 2026, and supports full- or part-time outpatient primary care service at approved sites in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas. Eligible professionals include OB/GYNs, women’s health nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, dental therapists, registered dental hygienists, and general or pediatric dentists. Applicants must be licensed and commit to a minimum two-year service obligation at an approved Minnesota site.
