Model State Award

About this program

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) offers the annual Model State Award to recognize state dermatology societies that demonstrate strong organizational capacity and engagement in advocacy, education, and community impact. Applications are accepted June 30–September 30, with higher award levels recognizing increasingly extensive initiatives and participation in AAD programs. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit state societies in good standing with bylaws and a mission statement, designated leadership or administrative contacts, annual dues collection, an active website, elected officers, an advisory board member, statewide participation opportunities, and member communications. Societies that have not applied in five years and do not meet all core criteria may apply for the State Society Advancement Award, which supports a strategic leadership retreat and organizational development.
