Mollie Beattie Visiting Scholar Program

About this program

The Society of American Foresters’ Mollie Beattie Visiting Scholar Program supports research in forestry and related natural resources in the United States, with preference for projects addressing public policy or broader impacts on forest management and the profession. The selected scholar receives a one-time $10,000 stipend and one year of SAF membership, along with opportunities for professional engagement and dissemination. Applicants must be graduate students, postdoctoral students, or early-career professionals within five years of earning a degree, belong to an underrepresented group in forestry or natural resources, and be currently located in the United States; advanced undergraduates may be considered exceptionally. Applications require a cover letter, CV, advisor or supervisor letter, and 250-word research abstract, and are due August 31, 2026.
