MSCRF Clinical Program

About this program

The Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF) is offering Clinical Research Grants to support Maryland-based clinical trials and translational projects using human stem cells, stem cell derivatives, or enabling technologies to advance therapies for human diseases, injuries, and conditions. Awards may provide up to $1 million in direct costs for a maximum of two years and require a 1:1 match of non-state funds; applications are due January 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. EST.

Eligible applicants include universities, nonprofit and for-profit research organizations, companies, and public or private institutions, including organizations based outside Maryland if MSCRF-funded clinical work occurs at a Maryland trial site. Projects must involve human stem cells, include achievable milestones, and, for clinical trials, have an FDA-cleared IND or IDE before submission; required IRB, IACUC, and applicable SCRO/ESCRO approvals must be obtained before funds are disbursed.
