National Trust Preservation Funds

About this program

The National Trust for Historic Preservation offers National Trust Preservation Funds grants of approximately $2,500–$5,000 to support local preservation planning, technical expertise, organizational capacity building, and public education or outreach. The next application deadline is October 1, 2026, with funding available for projects in designated states and Washington, D.C.; construction, property acquisition, and academic research are not eligible. Eligible applicants include public agencies, 501(c)(3) organizations, and other nonprofits, but selected organizations must hold or obtain qualifying National Trust or Main Street America membership before funds are released. Applicants are encouraged to provide a one-to-one match and may receive no more than one grant per organization or project phase in a grant round.
