NBS Early Career Award

About this program

The Newborn Brain Society (NBS) Early Career Award provides $10,000 (no indirect costs) to support early-career investigators conducting basic, translational, clinical, or quality-improvement research focused on the fetal and neonatal brain; awardees are expected to present results in an NBS webinar and are encouraged to present at NBS, PAS, or ESPR meetings. Applicants must be NBS members with an MD, PhD, MD/PhD, RN, NNP, PT/OT, MPH, or allied health credential, be in training or within five years of completing their most recent training, and must not currently hold non-salary operating funding of ≥ $100,000 USD. Applications (letter of intent due August 1, 2026; full application due October 1, 2026) require a letter of support, abstract, NIH-style biosketch, research plan with timeline, budget and justification (salary and direct research costs eligible; travel to present capped at $2,000), and disclosure of other support; funds are administered by the applicant’s institution and projects should be feasible within one year.
