About this program
The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing (CASW) offers New Horizons Travel Fellowships to offset travel costs for U.S. science journalists attending its annual New Horizons in Science briefings, held alongside ScienceWriters conferences. Fellowships primarily support reporters from smaller metropolitan outlets, freelancers, and webcasters, with awards of up to $1,200 and optional mentorship from an experienced science writer. Applicants must submit a 500-word expression of interest, a nomination letter from a senior editor, news director, or producer, a résumé with contact information, and up to three clips or broadcast transcripts by September 10.
