Nieman Fellowships

About this program

The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard awards annual Nieman Fellowships that fund a transformative, full‑time year of study at Harvard designed to promote and elevate the standards of journalism. Fellows draw on Harvard’s academic resources and a cohort of distinguished peers to develop ideas, reporting tools, and strategies to strengthen journalism and storytelling. Applicants must be accomplished journalists—described by the foundation as “persons deemed specially qualified for journalism”—from the United States or internationally who can demonstrate professional achievement and a clear plan for how the fellowship will advance their work.
