NZMS Research Award

About this program

The New Zealand Mathematical Society (NZMS) Research Award recognizes outstanding mathematical research carried out in New Zealand, judged on work published in the five calendar years 2021–2026; the award is a certificate with an appropriate citation (no monetary prize) presented at the New Zealand Mathematics Colloquium Dinner. Applicants must be current NZMS members who have resided in New Zealand for the past three years, with the five-year assessment period adjustable for documented career breaks (including optional brief COVID-19 statements), and no person may receive the Award more than once. Nominations (self-nominations accepted) must be emailed to NZMS President Prof. Bernd Krauskopf by 31 August 2026 and include preferred name/affiliation, research-area statement, CV with distinctions/ students supervised/ grants and publications highlighting 2021–2026 works, up to five PDFs of key publications, a clear statement of contribution to joint work, names of two referees, and a citation of up to 40 words.
