Olivia James Traveling Fellowship

About this program

The Archaeological Institute of America offers the Olivia James Traveling Fellowship, providing up to $25,000 for travel and study in Greece, Cyprus, the Aegean Islands, Sicily, southern Italy, Turkey, and Mesopotamia during the award period. Projects of at least six months are preferred, and funding does not support field excavation or institutional overhead. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and current AIA Graduate- or Professional-level members; preference is given to dissertation researchers and scholars who earned their PhD within five years of the deadline. Applications, including references and transcripts, are due November 1, 2026, and recipients may not hold another major fellowship during the award tenure.
