About this program
The Pennsylvania Wine Marketing and Research Program Board, funded through the Agricultural Commodity Marketing Act and up to $1 million annually from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, awards annual grants to support marketing, promotion and research projects that strengthen Pennsylvania wine production and the statewide wine industry. Funded topics include viticulture and pest/disease research (e.g., spotted lanternfly, Spotted Wing Drosophila, grapevine leafroll), studies on tannin extraction and canopy management (ACE), under‑trellis groundcover, statewide marketing/promotions, and education/professional development; applicants should consult the Program’s position paper for specific funding priorities. Proposals are solicited annually (RFP usually published in the Pennsylvania Bulletin in January) and must be emailed within the announced application period to RA-AGCOMMODITIES@pa.gov for review and recommendation to the PLCB. Awardees are required to submit biannual progress reports tied to proposal deliverables (due April 1 and October 1) to both RA-AGCOMMODITIES@pa.gov and RA-LBACT39GRANTS@pa.gov and must follow the program’s reporting templates and RFP instructions.
