About this program
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution offers 18-month Postdoctoral Scholarships to support independent research, professional development, and advanced training in ocean sciences, engineering, and related fields aligned with WHOI’s mission. Awards include an annual stipend of at least $71,000, relocation and health allowances, and limited support for research-related expenses; the 2027 application cycle closes October 15, 2026. Applicants must have earned a doctoral degree no more than three years before the appointment start date and must hold the degree by appointment. MIT-WHOI Joint Program students, recent WHOI postdoctoral appointees, individuals with more than 12 months as WHOI guest students, and those with a WHOI employee as a formal doctoral adviser are ineligible.
