Postgraduate Teaching Visits To Resource Poor Countries

About this program

European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) offers travel awards of approximately EUR 1,000 (typically covering economy-class transport) to support ESPID members undertaking postgraduate teaching and training activities within established paediatric infectious-disease education programmes in resource-poor countries; up to 10 awards are funded annually. Applicants must be ESPID members in good standing, have prior postgraduate PID teaching experience, and apply only at the written invitation of a host institution on ESPID’s resource-poor country list; the host must specify dates/topics and commit to provide a completion certificate and student/delegate feedback. Applications must be submitted in English by the quarterly deadlines (current period: open 2026-03-02, close 2026-06-01), are screened by the ESPID secretariat and reviewed by the Committee for Education (decision in ~3 weeks), and reimbursement is made after original ticket receipts/boarding passes and host confirmation are provided. Awards cover economy-class travel only; hosts are expected to provide accommodation/subsistence and applicants should disclose other funding and apply at least two months before the proposed visit.
