About this program
The National Academy of Sciences presents the annual Pradel Research Award to recognize mid‑career neuroscientists whose work has made major contributions to understanding the nervous system, and includes a $50,000 research award to be designated to an institution chosen by the recipient. Nominations for the 2027 award are being accepted through Monday, October 5, 2026. Eligible candidates are mid‑career researchers in neuroscience with demonstrated, transformative or sustained contributions to neural system understanding and must be nominated for consideration.
