Professional Development Grants for Part-Time Faculty Members

About this program

The Modern Language Association offers $1,000 Professional Development Grants to part-time faculty members for technology, continuing education, research, conference participation, childcare, and other career-development expenses. Approximately ten grants are awarded twice yearly by lottery, and applicants may receive the award only once every three years. Applicants must be current MLA members, earn more than half of their income from part-time college or university teaching, and not be in the first five years of a PhD program. Applications must include a 100–250-word description of the proposed professional development project.
