About this program
The American Institute for Conservation (AIC) invites current members to apply for Professional Membership, a peer-reviewed designation recognizing professional competence in cultural heritage conservation. Approved members receive enhanced professional visibility, access to leadership and professional development opportunities, and eligibility for scholarships supporting workshops, courses, and conferences. Applicants must demonstrate appropriate training, independent professional knowledge and skills, and engagement with the conservation field through one of three pathways: Treatment, Preventive Care, or Scientific Principles and Examination Methods. Applications require a CV, three to five work examples, responses to 12 competency questions, and sponsorship from two AIC Professional Members; deadlines are January 1, July 1, and October 1.
