About this program

Project Apis m. (PAm) funds research that advances honey bee health and delivers practical benefits to commercial beekeeping and crop production, with awards typically ranging from $5,000 to $200,000 or more. Proposals may be submitted year-round for review by deadlines of February 1, June 1, and October 1, with one proposal permitted per cycle. Eligible applicants primarily include research institutions such as universities, USDA-ARS facilities, agricultural extension programs, and similar organizations, especially in North America; projects outside North America must demonstrate benefits to North American beekeeping. Applications must present scientifically rigorous, reproducible methods, measurable impacts, practical outcomes, beekeeper communication plans, and a detailed budget excluding indirect costs or overhead.
