Projects and Proposals Funding (American Society for Legal History)

About this program

The American Society for Legal History’s Projects and Proposals Committee offers grants (typically $4,000–$6,000, most under $5,000) to seed new initiatives that foster novel scholarly interchange, pedagogical experiments, and public-history venues in legal history, including conferences, publications, museum exhibits, and collaborative pedagogical projects. Proposals may be submitted by educational institutions or informal groups/networks and ordinarily should include other institutional collaborators or cosponsors. The committee does not support individual research projects, ongoing/recurrent activities, or projects previously funded three times, and in most cases someone involved will be an ASLH member. Applications are due 1 September 2026 via the online form; questions and completed materials should be sent to proposals@aslh.net.
