Projects and Proposals Funding

About this program

The American Society for Legal History’s Projects and Proposals Committee offers $4,000–$6,000 grants for innovative initiatives that advance legal historical scholarship, pedagogy, scholarly exchange, and public history. Eligible projects may include conferences, publications, museum exhibits, educational experiments, and international or community outreach, with a preference for initiatives involving new voices, younger scholars, or students. Proposals may be submitted by educational institutions or informal groups, typically with institutional collaborators or cosponsors; individual research projects, recurring activities, and pre-conference expenses are not eligible. Applications are due September 1, 2026, and applicants are generally expected to include an ASLH member.
