Projects and Proposals Funding

About this program

The American Society for Legal History offers funding through its Projects and Proposals Committee to support innovative initiatives in legal historical scholarship, pedagogy, and public engagement. Grants of up to $50,000 (though most awards are under $5,000) are available for projects such as conferences, publications, museum exhibits, and pedagogical experiments that advance the field of legal history. Eligible applicants include educational institutions, informal groups, or networks of individuals, with a preference for proposals involving at least one Society member. The funding does not support individual research projects, ongoing activities, or projects previously funded three times by the committee.
