About this program

The Office of the Provost at Duke University offers a co‑investment Provost’s Research Support Program to sustain research continuity, foster innovation, and strengthen competitiveness when federal funding is delayed or unavailable, providing awards in two tracks (domestic-based activities and international collaborator support). Each track includes three award categories—Delayed Continuation Awards, Bridge Awards, and Research Program Pivot Awards—designed to bridge funding gaps or enable strategic pivots. Eligible applicants are Duke faculty with a primary appointment in a school, college, center, or institute; domestic-track awards exclude faculty with primary appointments in the School of Medicine (who are eligible for School of Medicine bridge programs), while the international track is open to all Duke faculty including School of Medicine appointees. Funding is a co‑investment (Provost provides 75%, the applicant’s home unit must commit 25%) and applicants must include a letter from the unit confirming the 25% cost‑share and its source; applicants should consult departmental/grants staff and related internal programs for specific requirements.
