Quantum FAST Challenge

About this program

California’s Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development offers the Quantum FAST Challenge to strengthen the state’s quantum ecosystem through education and workforce development initiatives and applied use-case demonstrations conducted with industry partners. Approximately $2.7 million is available, with awards ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 for projects conducted from February 1, 2027, through February 1, 2029; matching funds are not required.

Eligible lead applicants are faculty members or administrators at California public higher education institutions, including the University of California, California State University, and California Community College systems. Applicants must be legally authorized to conduct business in California and in good standing with the California Secretary of State; private industry, nonprofit, and workforce organizations may participate as project partners.
