Recycling Grant

About this program

BizRecycling Minnesota funds eligible schools, businesses, nonprofits and qualifying multi-unit residential properties in Ramsey and Washington Counties to start or improve recycling and organics (food-scraps) collection and to support small-scale waste reduction and reuse projects. Awards provide cash grants, direct-ship bins/equipment, signage and educational materials—up to $10,000 per business location and up to $20,000 per residential apartment complex—with item-specific caps (e.g., compostable ware up to $5,000 or six months). Eligible applicants must have a physical location in Ramsey or Washington County, be registered and in good standing with the Minnesota Secretary of State, and include for-profit businesses, nonprofits, private colleges, places of worship, specified charter/private schools, and apartments with five or more units; public entities and home-based businesses are ineligible. Applicants must coordinate a site assessment with a BizRecycling Recycling Expert who conducts a visit, helps prepare the project plan and documentation, and sets up the online application; applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
