Research and Education Pre-Proposal - SARE Western

About this program

Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (Western SARE) invites interdisciplinary Research and Education proposals to support projects that integrate rigorous research with innovative education and outreach to advance the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of sustainable agriculture at local and regional levels. Awards of up to $350,000 for 1–3 year projects require producer collaboration, measurable producer benefits, conservation of natural and social resources, and dissemination through scholarly publications and educational outreach. Researchers based at institutions in the Western region are eligible and projects must include teams of researchers, students, agricultural professionals, and producers. Submission of full proposals is limited to applicants whose pre-proposal is approved (pre-proposal deadline extended to June 15, 2026); inquiries can be sent to wsare-re@sare.org.
