About this program

The Immune Deficiency Foundation offers one-year research grants of $25,000–$50,000 for noncommercial, patient-centered research addressing the treatment, diagnosis, disease management, or broader understanding of primary immunodeficiency (PI). The highest-scored application receives the Michael Blaese Research Grant Award. Eligible applicants are U.S.-based academic researchers in medicine or science, including M.D., D.O., Ph.D., and R.N. investigators; students, residents, and fellows may apply with an appropriate mentor’s support, including a letter and NIH biosketch. Proposals involving animal models are not eligible, institutional overhead is not funded, and applications are due September 14, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
