About this program

Research Ireland’s Frontiers for the Future Programme funds highly innovative, high‑risk/high‑reward research through two streams: Projects (shorter‑term funding) and Awards (larger collaborative programmes with potential economic and societal impact), with Awards offering €600,000–€1,500,000 in direct costs over 4–5 years. The programme is delivered with the Geological Survey of Ireland, SEAI, Breakthrough Cancer Research and the Children’s Health Foundation and is open to forming new co‑funding partnerships. Eligible applicants are independent investigators and Emerging Investigators, including those returning to research after leave, and proposals should demonstrate strong innovation, collaboration and potential impact. Application materials, webinars and a review process are provided, and calls operate on a rolling deadline.
