About this program

The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers a Research Scholarship in Photograph Conservation for an advanced, collection-based research project integrated with the Museum’s Photograph and Time-Based Media Conservation Department. The fellowship runs from September 2027 through August 2029, provides a $63,000 annual stipend, up to $6,000 for research travel, and health-insurance support, and may be renewable for a third year. Applicants must hold a graduate degree in conservation or equivalent experience, specialize in photograph conservation, and demonstrate the independence and research expertise needed to conduct an advanced project using The Met’s collections and resources. Applications, including a proposal of no more than 1,000 words, work and travel schedules, CV, transcripts, and three recommendation letters, are due online in English by November 11, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET; international applicants must obtain appropriate U.S. work authorization.
