Reviewer-in-Training Program

About this program

The SIR Foundation’s Reviewer-in-Training Program provides a two-year training and mentorship experience in grant proposal review, preparing participants to serve on society, foundation, and government study sections. Up to four prior SIR Foundation grant recipients are selected annually: faculty MDs or PhDs review proposals, while medical students, residents, and other trainees observe and later review a Pilot Grant proposal. Applicants must have previously received an SIR Foundation grant and commit to participating in two consecutive SIR Foundation Grant Review Study Sections; applications are due September 1, 2026, by 5 p.m. ET.
