Coefficient Giving is offering up to $30 million across two rounds for pre-competitive R&D aimed at improving the taste, affordability, and functionality of alternative proteins. Funding supports work on plant- and fermentation-derived off-flavor reduction, fat alternatives, egg replacement, and characterization of fish flavors, with awards of approximately $100,000–$1 million in Round 1 and $1–$5 million in Round 2 for projects lasting up to 3.5 years. Eligible applicants worldwide include universities, research institutes, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, companies, and collaborations, with no matching funds required and awards subject to legal and financial due diligence. Proposals should follow the technical context document’s metrics and methodology preferences and ideally include interdisciplinary expertise and a credible pathway to industry adoption; deadlines are August 10, 2026, for Round 1 and September 15, 2026, for Round 2.
