About this program
The State Historical Society of Missouri offers Richard S. Brownlee Local History Grants of up to $1,000 to help Missouri cultural heritage institutions preserve historical records or develop local-history education and programming; up to $15,000 will be awarded annually. Eligible projects include archival supplies, public programs, preservation training, and permanent historic markers, excluding government documents. Applicants must have active SHSMO organizational membership at the Silver Level or higher, and applications require a 250–500-word project description and budget by September 15, 2026; funded projects run October 2026–July 2027.
