Rita Allen Foundation Scholars Program

About this program

The Rita Allen Foundation Scholars Program supports high-risk, potentially groundbreaking basic biomedical research in cancer, immunology, neuroscience, and pain. Scholars may receive up to $110,000 annually for five years, while Pain Award recipients may receive $50,000 annually for up to three years, for direct project expenses and up to 50% of the Scholar’s compensation. Except for the separate Pain Award application, candidates must be nominated by an invited U.S. institution, be early-career independent investigators with completed training, institutional startup support, and laboratory space, and conduct research at a U.S. nonprofit institution. Applicants need not be U.S. citizens but must be legally employed by an eligible U.S. degree-granting or research institution; institutions may submit one nomination per cycle through Fluxx.
