Rita Allen Foundation Scholars

About this program

The Rita Allen Foundation supports bold, high-risk basic biomedical research in cancer, immunology, neuroscience, and pain through its Rita Allen Foundation Scholars program. Scholars may receive up to $110,000 annually for five years to establish independent research programs and cover direct project expenses, including up to 50% of compensation. Applicants must be early-career independent investigators, preferably within their first three years of a tenure-track appointment, with institutional startup funds and laboratory space. Except for the separately administered Award in Pain, candidates must be nominated by an eligible U.S. degree-granting or research institution, which may submit one nominee per cycle; awardees must conduct the research at a U.S. nonprofit institution.
