Ron Tyler Award for Best Illustrated Book on Texas History and Culture

About this program

The Texas State Historical Association, with funding from the Summerlee Foundation, offers the $2,500 Ron Tyler Award for the best illustrated book on Texas history and culture. Eligible books must be published and copyrighted in 2025 or 2026, make a substantive contribution to Texas history or culture, and use illustrations significantly, including photography or reproductions of historic artwork. Publishers must submit an entry form, individual nomination form, and four copies by November 15, 2026; books published after October 1 may be submitted through December 1. The winning author must attend the TSHA Annual Meeting, and the award may be given to the author, publisher, or shared.
