Rose and Sigmund Strochlitz Fellowship

About this program

The University of Connecticut Archives and Special Collections offers the Rose and Sigmund Strochlitz Fellowship, providing competitive travel grants of up to $4,000 to support scholars and researchers conducting on-site research using UConn’s archival holdings. Applicants at any career stage must demonstrate a research need that relies on ASC materials and submit a brief project description (≤2 pages), a preliminary list of collections to be consulted, and a CV; priority is given to projects that clearly utilize ASC holdings. Recipients, selected by the Head of Archives & Special Collections and relevant archivist(s), must be in residence for at least five full research days and report findings via a 1,500‑word departmental blog post, a 45‑minute d’Archive podcast interview, or a presentation to library staff; funds are disbursed only after fellowship requirements are completed (allow at least eight weeks for payment processing). Applications are reviewed annually with a January 30 deadline for research visits scheduled between March and the following February, and applicants are notified within six weeks.
