Scientific Leadership Development Award: 2027 Application Cycle

About this program

The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) offers the Scientific Leadership Development Award to prepare emerging scientists to lead HIV vaccine clinical trials and progress toward HVTN protocol chair or co-chair roles. Awardees receive professional development planning, coaching, sponsorship, manuscript support using HVTN data, and up to 20% FTE support through their affiliate sites, with possible travel and publication assistance. Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree, have experience with HVTN clinical trials, and be affiliated with an HVTN Core site or site conducting active HVTN studies. Candidates must also have a local HVTN mentor and a demonstrated need for development in areas such as first authorship, protocol development, translational research, or statistical analysis; applications for the 2027 cycle are due October 30, 2026.
