Scientific Leadership Development Award

About this program

The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) Scientific Leadership Development Award supports emerging HVTN leaders through professional development and mentored research aimed at expanding capacity to lead HIV vaccine clinical trials. Awardees receive support for a 12-month project beginning in 2027, including 20% protected time, development of skills in areas such as immunology, vaccinology, data analysis, and manuscript preparation, and presentation of results at the HVTN Full Group Meeting. Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree, have experience with HVTN clinical trials, be affiliated with an HVTN Core site or site conducting active HVTN studies, and identify a local HVTN mentor. Applications must include a CV highlighting HVTN work, a career statement, a mentor nomination letter, and supervisor commitment, and are due by October 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
