The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) is offering 4–6 Scientific Pilot Awards for early-career investigators conducting one-year HIV immunology or vaccinology research at their sites. Awards begin December 1, 2026, provide up to $35,000 in direct costs, and may support salary, laboratory reagents, or statistical assistance; applications are due September 15, 2026. Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree, meet the NIH early-stage investigator definition, have a prior first-author publication record, and be affiliated with an HVTN Core Site or actively enrolling HVTN trial site with a designated HVTN mentor. Proposals must demonstrate scientific merit, feasibility, career-development value, and alignment with HVTN priorities; qualitative or sociobehavioral research is not eligible.
