Young Investigator Seed Grants

About this program

The Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) offers Young Investigator and Brain Injury Scholar Seed Grants of up to $25,000 for projects completed within 24 months, supporting early-stage research, new hypotheses, additional cohorts, or secondary data analyses in brain injury. The 2026 competition welcomes animal and human studies and aims to help investigators generate preliminary findings for larger public or private funding. Young Investigators must work in an institution, corporate, or nonprofit setting with access to experienced brain injury mentorship and must identify a mentor; Scholars must be principal investigators on a project valued at least $300,000 or demonstrate substantial research credentials and have adequate project infrastructure. Applications require a letter of interest followed, if invited, by a full proposal; 2026 LOIs are due July 1.
