SIAM-Simons Undergraduate Summer Research Program

About this program

The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), with support from the Simons Foundation, funds an eight-week summer research and learning program in applied mathematics and computational science at five U.S. sites. Each site pairs one faculty mentor with two undergraduates, providing students with stipends, covered lodging, meals and travel, a Flatiron Institute visit, and support to attend the following year’s SIAM Annual Meeting. Mentors must be current SIAM members, authorized to work in the United States, and employed full time at a U.S. academic or research institution able to host two students; mentor applications for summer 2027 are due August 31, 2026. Student applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled at a U.S. college or university and still undergraduates in September 2027; applications are expected to open in late 2026.
